Miss Heather has been a Co-owner and Director at FPDS since 2021 and began teaching with FPDS in 2017. She began dancing at the age of 5 at Carol Thompson's School of Dance in Huntingdon, PA where she was trained in ballet, tap, jazz, pointe, and modern.
Heather participated in summer dance intensives with the Allegheny Ballet Company where she received achievement awards in ballet and attended classes under the direction of Cherie Noble, Richard Cook, Robert Steele, Patricia Sorrell, and Melinda Jones Howe. She assisted or instructed classes in ballet, tap, and jazz from 1992 to 2000 and choreographed the Huntingdon Area School musical productions of My Fair Lady and Li'l Abner.
Heather took a 15-year hiatus from dancing to pursue a Ph.D. in biology at the University of Oklahoma. She recently returned to dance in 2015 when she began taking adult classes with First Position Dance Studio.
Miss Heather has also participated in Hamilton Gibson’s production of James and the Giant Peach and assisted with the productions of Aladdin Jr. and Frozen Jr. Miss Heather is working on her 200 hour yoga certification and hopes to bring these skills to the dance studio to help dancers build strength and flexibility.
